The San Jose Scene: The Spit Muffins

Kimble’s raw-throated vocals, Herbie’s crazy guitar playing and dubious fashion non-sense, Carl’s perpetual smile. These guys put on the most dependably fun and rockin’ live set of any band I’ve known. They did a killer rendition of “Ace of Spades”; rumor has it that Kimble actually met Lemmy at a bar in the midwest somewhere, and he was favorably impressed. I’d kill for a complete version of it – the bit at the end of “Bubs” is just not enough. I was delighted to see them again at the Marsugis Reunion Show in 2009.

I don’t know what became of these folks. I think Herbie was a computer geek of some sort so he probably went back to that. Far as I know none of them continued in the music industry.

Here’s a video of their set at the legendary Marsugis in ‘92

Kimbel - Vocals
Herbie Gray - Guitar
Carl Sinkula - Guitar
